A cross sectional dataset of approximately 12,000 eighth grade students, located in the United States is used. The decision to attend college is modeled as a function of high school experiences, extracurricular involvement, grades, test scores, and educational aspirations. The probit model results indicate that sports in general increased the probability of a student attending college with statistical significance. 000001588 542__ $$fCopyright Reserved, Non-exclusive rights granted to Colorado College for distribution 000001588 650_4 $$aCollege attendance 000001588 650_4 $$ayouth sports participation 000001588 650_4 $$aeducational aspirations 000001588 650_4 $$ateam sports 000001588 650_4 $$aindividual sports 000001588 7001_ $$aCurran , Samantha Grace 000001588 72012 $$aFenn, Aju 000001588 8564_ $$946de0cce-7974-4f33-ba89-722925974aee$$s266322$$uhttps://digitalcc.coloradocollege.edu/record/1588/files/Youth%20Sports%20Help%20Close%20the%20Education%20Gap.pdf 000001588 980__ $$aIR 000001588 982__ $$aEconomics and Business Department Student Theses 2015-16
