Abstract
This paper is an ethnography of the group Earth Church / Circle. It questions the ways spirituality and combatting climate change intertwine. The Earth Church combines many teachings of spiritual practices, religion, and science which results in an emergent spirituality surrounding healing the Earth. Members of the Earth Church often reject notions of human hierarchy over nature that is created and sustained through dominant Christian & western ideas. Rather, being aware of the interconnectivity of all beings is seen as essential to heal the Earth. To heal oneself therefore has an indefinite ability to heal outward into the world and universe. Through this ethnography we can reflect on the ways we situate ourselves as individuals in the larger questions of climate change, and how we put into perspective the individual capacity to make change.
