I am researching my Jewish ancestral herbalism and the Judaism that existed before it became whitewashed, Christianized, patriarchal, and oppressive. Ancient Judaism was an ecospritiual religion that listened to the language of plants, and stewarded the land and fostered sustainable and just communities. As a white herbalist and ethnobotany major, I think it is incredibly important to know one’s ancestral medicine so one does not appropriate, devalue and abuse plants and traditions that belong to other cultures.
