This paper gives a brief overview of female monasticism in medieval Germany. It then proceeds to give a small biography of Hildegard von Bingen, then goes into her work. Lastly, Hildegard is compared to elisabeth of Schonau and Herrad of Hohenbourg via their imagery of the Woman of the Apocalypse.
