Abstract
This project aims to understand how medicinal plants can reconnect us to our bodies, ecosystems, and, ultimately, each other. To explore these relationships, we will focus on one type of ecosystem found in the Southwest United States: the Sagebrush Steppe.
The paper covers three important medicinal plants: sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata), yarrow (Achillea millefolium), and mullein (Verbascum thapsus). These species were selected because they are associated with the Sagebrush Steppe ecosystem, have verified medicinal properties, and have long histories of use. They are easily found in the Southwest. Through these profiles, we will explore some ecological relationships, introduce some bioactive compounds, their medicinal properties, and ask ourselves: What can we learn from these plants?
