Born June 11, 1941 in Nuremberg, Germany, Horst Richardson came to the United States at age 14. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Riverside, served as a teaching assistant there for a year, and then taught junior high school in California for another year. He came to Colorado College to teach elementary German in 1965. In the following year, he became the coach of the men’s varsity soccer team, a position he held for fifty years. He obtained his master’s degree from U. C. Riverside and his Ph.D. from Connecticut University after he joined the CC faculty. He retired from teaching in 2010.
