Abstract
The teaching methods in science classes of the past tended to look more like reading classes.
Students need a better way to learn science, so teachers need better ways to teach science. New
teaching methods include journaling. Students and teachers learn content more effectively when they
keep a journal that has reflections on learning experiences and feedback from peers and instructors.
Hands-on learning in the form of science kits and STEM labs provide learners with actual lab
experiences, which is superior to just reading about the topics. Communication in the form of
presentations and discussions promotes authentic learning through speaking. Assessment, both
formative and summative, give teachers valuable data on student progress throughout a unit of
learning. Asking effective questions helps students think more deeply. If teachers are taught this way,
they will learn this way, and they can teach their students this way.
